One of my last blogs was titled A Very Bad Run. It was almost comical at how bad it was. This weekend I had to run this course again but this time it was a race. It is a local 15K called Huff N Puff on the Bluff. The name really says it all. This was going to be a training run for my upcoming half. I had no intention of “racing” or pushing myself. Just a good, hilly training run. A social run really, with two of my sweet running buddies.
This run was so completely different than our practice run a week before. We felt good. We ran faster than we thought we would or could. We took every step of every mile together. The last .3 of our lovely 9.3 miles my blood sugar dropped and had a hard time keeping the pace. But I pushed through and the three of us crossed the finish line together, holding hands. And honestly I needed the extra pull across the finish line. The best thing? Each one of us won our age group!
Running has changed my life in so many ways. But quite honestly it’s made my life better because of the people it has brought into my life. I am so thankful for these wonderful friends. Happy running!
